Reading a Porta Potty Quote: Price Drivers, Fees and Questions

A porta potty quote can look simple and still leave surprises on the invoice. Knowing how to read a porta potty quote helps you compare companies line by line. This guide covers what sets the price, which fees to watch for, and what to ask before you pay.
What 5 things set the price of a porta potty rental?
Five things set a porta potty rental price: location, unit type, dates, servicing and quantity. A standard weekend event unit runs $225–$295 with delivery and pickup. Each factor moves your quote up or down within that range, or into a different price tier.
| Factor | What changes the price | Approved range |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Drive time and truck access | $45–$95 delivery and pickup on a first 28-day cycle |
| Unit type | Standard, wheelchair-accessible, flushing, VIP | $225–$295, $295–$425, $345–$475, $450–$650 per event |
| Dates | Weekend event vs 28-day rental, notice given | $199–$285 per 28 days; $75–$125 if a truck must be re-routed same day |
| Servicing | Visits beyond what the rental includes | $65–$95 per extra visit |
| Quantity | Number of units and add-ons | Priced per unit; hand wash station $95–$175 per event |

Why does almost everyone ask for the price first?
Price is the first question for most renters, because porta potty quotes vary so much. A real answer needs 4 facts: address, dates, unit type and head count. With those, we text a written total in about 15 minutes instead of a teaser rate that grows later.
Address, dates, unit type and head count. Give any company those four facts and ask for an all-in total, not a per-unit teaser rate.
A low "per unit" number often leaves out delivery, pickup or tax. Compare totals, not headline rates. Ask each company for the same unit, same dates and same service plan.
What fees show up on porta potty quotes?
Porta potty quotes commonly grow through 4 add-ons: fuel charges, rush fees, removal fees and card or convenience fees. None of these is wrong by itself. The problem comes when a fee first appears on the invoice instead of on the quote.
| Fee | How it shows up | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel charge | A line added on top of delivery | "Is fuel already in the delivery price?" |
| Rush or expedite fee | Charged for next-day or Monday drops | "What notice avoids this fee?" |
| Removal or pickup fee | Billed at the end of a 28-day rental | "Is pickup included, or billed later?" |
| Card or convenience fee | A small charge for paying by card | "Is the total the same by card?" |
| Mileage-based delivery | Delivery quoted separately from the unit | "What is the out-the-door total?" |
What questions should you ask before you book?
Ask 6 questions before you pay for a porta potty rental. Cover the full total, included servicing and weekend billing. Then ask about the cancel deadline and pickup. Last, ask what happens if the truck cannot park within 15 feet.
- Total."Is this the full price with delivery, pickup and tax?"
- Service."How many cleanings are included, and what does an extra one cost?"
- Weekends."Do Friday drop and Monday pickup cost extra?"
- Changes."What is the cancel or date-change deadline?"
- Pickup."Do I need to call to end the rental?"
- Access."What if the driver cannot reach my spot?"
Our answers to these sit on the porta potty rental FAQ and in our rental terms.
How does a 28-day quote differ from an event quote?
An event quote covers 1 weekend with delivery and pickup included and no service visits. A 28-day quote covers 4 weeks with weekly service. The first 28-day cycle adds $45–$95 for delivery and pickup. Later renewals at $185–$245 per cycle cost less.
That is why a 3-month job does not cost 3 times the first bill. One unit for 84 days runs about $614–$870 before tax. People often ask why the second month is cheaper, and the delivery line is the reason.
What costs can a public event add outside the rental quote?
A public event can add 2 costs outside any rental quote. One is a city permit, and the other is extra units the rules call for. A Mesquite special event permit costs $50–$250 and needs 45 days of lead time. Public events also need at least 5% of units in each cluster to be accessible.
The permit covers events that close streets or use temporary structures. Read the City of Mesquite special event permit page for the current rules. The accessible-unit rule comes from section 213.2 of the 2010 ADA Standards.
A wheelchair-accessible unit runs $295–$425 per event. Food vendors also need a place to wash hands, so plan a station near the food line. Use our restroom count guide for events to size the order.

Questions readers ask
Is the porta potty price per day?
No. An event price covers the whole weekend, Friday to Monday. A 28-day price covers the full cycle with weekly service.
Why is the second month cheaper than the first?
The first 28-day cycle includes $45–$95 for delivery and pickup. Renewals skip that line and run $185–$245.
Can you compare my quote with another company's?
Yes. Send the other written quote, and we will compare it line by line so you see the true difference.
When does the same-day dispatch fee apply?
Only when a truck must be re-routed to reach you the same day. Booked-ahead orders do not carry it.
Can someone else pay for the rental?
Yes. A family member, church or company can pay. We can list a second contact for delivery questions.
