How many porta potties does my construction crew need?

OSHA 1926.51 Table D-1 requires 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers, then 1 seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers above 20. Gregory Rental Works recommends 1 unit per 10 workers on a 40-hour week with weekly service. A 25-person framing crew needs 1 seat plus 1 urinal by law; we suggest 3 units.

How often are job site porta potties serviced?

Job site porta potties are serviced once a week on the same weekday, and that visit is included in every 28-day rental. The tech pumps, scrubs, recharges and restocks. Crews over 10 workers in July and August, or sites running 6-day weeks, usually add a second weekly service.

Tell us your gate code and whether the site is locked on service day. If a gate is locked and the tech cannot get in, the visit is rescheduled and a trip fee may apply. Many superintendents leave a key in a lockbox or set the service for a weekday when someone is on site.

Where should a porta potty go on a construction site?

Put a job site porta potty on level ground within about 15 feet of a drivable path, away from excavation edges, crane swing zones and material drop areas. The service truck must reach it every week. On new-home lots in Solterra and Creek Crossing, the curb-side front corner usually works best.

  • Stake or strap units on open lots — North Texas spring storms bring straight-line winds.
  • Keep units off fresh-poured slabs and out of drainage swales; Blackland clay turns to mud after rain.
  • Face the door away from the street for privacy and away from prevailing south winds in summer.

Do you work with builders and multi-site contractors?

Yes. Builders and remodelers with several Mesquite-area sites get one account, one invoice per cycle and a single point of contact at our dispatch desk. We move units between lots when phases close and add or remove units by text. Most multi-site accounts run 3 to 20 units at a time.

New construction is busy east of Dallas: Solterra’s 1,400-acre, 3,200-home community in south Mesquite, the 235-acre I-20 mixed-use project and new industrial buildings on Skyline Drive all need crews on site for years (WFAA).

1 per 10

OSHA sets 1 toilet for up to 20 workers, but one unit for 20 people fills up before the weekly service in Texas heat. We recommend 1 unit per 10 workers.

Plan next: check prices and what each quote includes, size your order with the porta potty calculator, or see which towns get same-day delivery. Also useful: OSHA job site toilet rules for Texas contractors.

Construction porta potty rental questions

These are the 6 construction porta potty rental questions renters ask most before booking. The answers are the same ones our dispatch desk gives on the phone, with timing, servicing and billing details spelled out so you can plan without calling back twice.

Do I pay for a full 28 days if I only need 2 weeks?

On a job site rental, yes — billing runs in 28-day cycles. For 1 to 14 days, ask for our short-term rate instead.

Can you lock the unit after hours?

Yes. We add a hasp so your superintendent can padlock it. Leave access for the weekly service.

Can you replace a vendor that did not show up?

Yes. Call by noon and we can usually drop a unit the same day and take over weekly service.

Do you service on Saturdays?

Weekly service runs Monday through Saturday. Pick the day that matches your crew schedule.

Can you bill my company on net terms?

Established builder accounts can be invoiced per cycle. New accounts pay by card for the first cycle.

What if a unit gets tipped over?

Call us. We clean up and reset it. Repeated tipping from wind or vandalism may require staking or a damage charge.
